Actress Offends the Chinese

Dior, one of the world's best known fashion houses has dropped actress, Sharon Stone, from it's list of well-known representatives in China. In an interesting article in today's NY Times, it is noted that because of Ms. Stone's remarks about the earthquake in China being a result of Karma because of China's treatment of Tibet, Dior feared that a boycott would be called for of their Asian products. Check out the article and see what you think. Is this a scary thing for China's buying power to be powerful enough that a fashion/actress could lose this part of her job? Or wouldn't we do the same thing in America if the famous person slipped up? What will Roger Clemens have a chance to pitch on national TV in the future? Or I bet Lindsey Lohan doesn't appear on Saturday morning cartoons selling cereal. So, is marketing the same around the globe? Makes you wonder?
