The building next door (Moss Antiques) was the carriage house for the hotel. The hotel has a door to the corral in back of the carriage house that is now blocked in and goes nowhere.
We understand that at one time it was a “house of ill repute”. Someone told us it was called the Blue Goose. I guess Hardy was a really rough town at one time. It also has been called the Ozark Hotel.
There have been reports of ghosts in the hotel for many years. Some think it is a man, maybe the man who was killed here. One gentleman that lived here moved out due to the noises and odd events such as marbles being left at the top of the stairs to trip on.
The above article was taken from the Old Hardy Town Hotel's website. Jamie and I went there hoping to see or hear a ghost. Well, maybe not. It's so fun to talk about then I have to keep teasing about it or I get scared. These first pics were taken in the Murder Room. I wonder if you have to go at certain times or make an appointment with the ghost(s) for them to show up? Maybe you have to have other more highly developed senses to feel the vibes. It was a little hard to get the feel of some other worldly presence when there are cranky kids stomping up and down the stairs around you. It also threw me off to find that they play spooky music upstairs where the lemonade stand is located. I don't really think ghosts want fakey Vincent Price violins for their appearances.
This room is across the hall from the Murder Room and has no windows. That would bother me so much more than being closed in with someone's spirit. Jamie has been here before and she finds that she gets a tightness in her chest when in the room. I really focused, but I have a tightness in my chest all the time-couldn't really tell whether I was getting signals from the past or just about to pass out from all the fun! Probably the best part of the whole day is that Jamie and I made another memory, another "remember when we did this" moment. We wanted to go to the Crescent Hotel in Eureka Springs to experience their hauntings, but now I think we are wavering a little about that for fear that something really would brush against us in the hall.
Below you will find more from the hotel's website about the study done by the Arkansas paranormal group:
On Saturday...August 25, 2007 a team from Arkansas Paranormal Investigations arrived in Hardy to investigate and "lay to rest" any doubts of paranormal activities at the Old Hardy Hotel Antique Mall. They arrived shortly after closing time and proceeded to set up their equipment throughout the building, upstairs and down. They used infrared cameras and sound recording equipment. as well as took temperature readings throughout the night. All was monitored from their mobile command post stationed outside the building.
The results were startling to say the least. They captured many anomalies such as Orbs, unexplained shadows, sounds, and several personal instances reported from the team members as they were setting up and performing their tasks throughout the night. They captured recordings of breathing, sounds and an actual voice calling out a girls name. One video even shows a "complete" ghostly image in the hallway that appears to be passing right thru a team member. See some of the pictures below to see for yourself. We will be posting more in the near future.
